Decorous value
Has a comfortably big bright LCD screen.
Zoom occurs in eight rapid "click-stop" stages, not smoothly like more extravagant camcorders.
After pushing the "ON" button, this camcorder is ready to go in about four seconds.
There's a threaded hole on the bottom for tripod employment.
There's no lens cover included, and since the lens is almost flush with the body of the unit, there's no way to use one.
Unit has a complete bottom, but with the LCD screen pivoted open, unit become "left-heavy" and will tip over.

Adroit Camera for the price But not for Indoor or Night use
I right-minded bought camera about a month ago and have used it during my wedding and honeymoon. This camera is Great if you hankering to take outside shots. It stores everything to a 2GB sd card which gives you about 1hr of record time. I bought 3 cards but only tolerant of 1 card for the whole honeymoon etc... and to off load it to a PC is so easy. I love it but my only complain is it's poor capturing in low obscure. Inside buildings with low light come out even darker than normal and u can forget about recording anything at Stygian but for the price it's great.

"HD 720p"??? How? You've got to be kidding!
I couldn't assent to with the other reviewers more. I paid over $100 for this piece of garbage at Target and thought I was getting a creep. The only thing good about this camera is its anti-shaking feature. Otherwise, picture-quality is atrocious and most definitely NOT high-definition. There ought to be a class-action lawsuit against Vivitar for their blatant synthetic advertising. The picture quality is comparable to a cheap webcam, and nothing I've found on the setup screen can put to rights it to make it any better.
You live, you learn, I guess.

Leave alone AVOID AVOID
Not HD. Very Unfruitful picture quality. Any digital camera can beat this for video quality.
Digital ZOOM has no idea. No optical zoom. Audio is ok with built in mic but no external mic input--something every video camera should have.
Debris. Not worthy of your consideration.
Returning this today.

Bad Camera delay away
Not benefit owning, my 7meg digital camera is 3 years old and takes better video then the vivitar 870. Don't positive what genius came up with this camera but would suggest a career change. Have owned other Vivitar products in the biography and they worked very well this one is a total flop, the pictures are out of focus with no way to adjust, bad resolution very pixelated, any downward movement of the camera even a slow pan results in very jerky and blurred pictures. was looking for an inexpensive camera to use while camping and hiking this isn't it. Trace about giving it to the Grand kids to play with but too many breakable parts.

Concede with others
Pros: insignificant and easy to handle .. ("woooo", good for the kiddies to handle..)
Cons: MANY ! No mic input, AAA mobile size (wish it was AA for more life and easier usage for rechargeables), software was my biggest emergence: Got the "Blue Screen of Death" after installing the software - totally crashed my system! If more time was weary on this camera from Vivitar, it would have been a lot better camera .. oh, the slot underneath to put the SD chip is a total chaff!

At face value??
Run, do not ride by shanks's, AWAY from this camcorder.
Cons-
packaging - no where does it tell you what type of batteries, if any it wishes. It does tell you that it is HD video 720, it fails to mention that it only gets this "quality" at 20 FPS. Surely?? 20 FPS for HD?? HAHAHA, you are joking right? Nope, unfortunately I am not.
Battery take into account - Cannot be removed while this was attached to my tripod. Fortunately I figured this out before I needed the information, I had to take the cover off unqualifiedly before securing it to my tripod mount in case I needed to change the batteries.
Power - does not have a anchorage for an external power source.
Zoom - Why do manufacturers even put digital zoom on any cameras? Inessential. Also, my zoom button will zoom in, but not back out. Likely a defect and not representitave of this product. The only way I was able to get the zoom back out to fully not on target, was to turn the power off then back on. (I am sooo glad that I monkey around with things before I actually have need of them)...
Focus - it is fixed and it is off with no way to resolve it.
Build - No bones about it - it is flimsy! And the flip out screen only flips out, does not gimbal. For $100 I guess that is what I should expect though.
Pros - um....can use AAA batteries and not a propriatary battery. Has a sulcus for a SD card - only up to 8GB...
Overall I am extreemely dissappointed with this camera. I went to the store for a Kodak Zi6, and if they were not out of them *and* if i didn't call for to capture my childrens play today, I would not be writing this review. I will be returning this camera and looking for the Kodak.

no waterproof victim
I picked this up because of the waterproof casing. It just arrived today and it doesn't come with the case. Be very careful which one of these you order. This one DOES NOT run across with the waterproof case. I'm going to try to get with the seller and see if I can get the case. Apparently they aren't sold independently. I may end up with two cameras and one case. grrr....

fairly good for the price
This isn't a bad camera. I infer from the other reviews for this, but i have to disagree. I think those people made a very uninformed decision. Personally, I am the head of the video tech office at the local high school, and I believe this camera is everything it is advertised to be. You must understand that there is a big difference between a full-bigness camcorder and a pocket recording device, like this one. Typical battery life for a crest like this is two hours; my Vivitar makes it three to four. The resolution is as it is advertised, nothing spectacular. The great feature on this is the infrared visual, which appears in black and white. It doesn't come in color; it wasn't meant to. It was just meant to gather an image in the dark and it doest that just fine. The microphone is admittably muted though, and the students have needed a USB extension to connect to the computer because of the awkward positioning of the connector. The software is very quirky as well, but it almost always is with video apparatus. This isn't the best camera ever, and there are definitely better options around that price. But the Vivitar NV gives you exactly what it advertises and the infrared is a one and only and effective feature when used appropriately.

Do not get from Electronics-Expo through Amazon
The fallout (Vivitar DVR-510-B Night Vision Boy) is written as a waterproof camera (still and video), it is not. It comes with a waterproof phony case, or so they say.
I put the camera in the case, sealed it and checked the seal all the way around. It appeared tight and I put it in a collect. Within seconds I could see water droplets inside the case. When I opened it, water poured out of the TV-OUT hot water on the side of the camera. The camera screen has not worked since.
When I tried to return the product to Electronics-Expo they said NO. If you assume from their Return Policy just about everything for every reason is Excluded. This also includes all TVs over 20" for any reason.
This is unequivocally not a company that Amazon should be associating with and neither should ANY CUSTOMER ! Apparently Amazon is working with less than headlining companies now so check the Policies of any company that you may want to purchase from through Amazon.

Go for a Speculator One
The Only Satisfactory thing i noticed about thiss product is the Underwater Cover that came with this Camcorder. Though i shelter't used this underwater, i think it should work. Rest everything else is very disappointing. The AUTOMATIC night form is so annoying, worse part is once it enters into night mode, it stays in that mode until you stop recording and start again. the Continually mode is obhiously in Black & White and eats up much battery. The shooting quality is not upto the heed. You will have to buy rechargable battery to use this camcorder as you can't possibly afford using normal batteries evry 4/5 hours of shooting.
Blanket i wouldn't recomend this product to my friends.

Keep Your Money And Look For Something Better
I bought one of these digital camcorders and at first I was pretty impressed by how easy it was to use and the better than average video quality. Then I heard the audio... Or shortage of it. Actually all I heard from the audio was a static hiss. Thinking I had gotten a bad camcorder somehow, I exchanged it for another. The patronize camera had the same problem. These camcorders either have a serious defect in the audio or Vivitar is using really low quality microphones in them. I returned that one as well, shelled out a negligible more money and bought a 2nd generation Flip Ultra 120. In the world of digital camcorders, the old saying "you get what you pay for" exceedingly is true. I got stung twice trying to pick out a bargain and it will be a long time before I try another Vivtar fallout. If you really want a decent digital camcorder, be prepared to pay for it because this one isn't worth the price.

Prophecy: Not the Vivitar DVR925
This merchandise is the vivitar dvr 410 not the dvr 925! It does NOT shoot 720p HD videos which was one of the features I wanted in a snitch HD camcorder. This may be good for a kid's birthday gift but is not what I was looking for. I left mine in the package. I'm going to the promulgate office next week to return it. If you want the dvr 410 go ahead, but if you want a HD pocket camcorder DO NOT buy this.
Bottom contract for: throughly review what you are getting and do not get the cheapest thing out there.

Particular pictured is actually the vivitar 410. not the dvr 925. I just ordered the supposed "dvr 925" and I received the 410.
Cons:
-has redoubtable video quality in both low light and daylight conditions.
-Extremely cheap build grandeur [plastic which is pretty much found in a little kids toy.]
-there is no protection over the lens.

How good is a Vivitar camcorder that is 8.1 Mega pixels, high definition & 8x digital zoom?
Q:
The image would be "DVR810HD".
Optical Viewfinder: TFT
Image Solving: 3264 x 2448
Movie Resolution: 1280 x 720
Focal Interminably: 4.5mm
A: Those specs Appear impressive, however, without a model number I cannot really give you any real extra information.
I will tell you that one tip to picking a good camera is to not genuinely look at the specs of the camera...but pay attention to the lens. So often residents forget about the lens on a camera being as important as the sensor in there. I've seen cameras that have insanely favourable resolutions, but have the worst optics I've ever seen. A cheap lens is a sleazy lens, throwing a high-resolution sensor doesn't metamorphose/improve the quality.
Most of the Vivitar cameras I've seen have been basic incidental-and-shoot cameras, but have halfway decent optics.
A capable rule of thumb is if the lens looks like a webcam/camera phone, it's acceptable very cheap. If it looks like a big piece of glass, it's a mark camera.
http://steves-digicams.com is an EXCELLENT resource for looking up digital cameras. They large have in-depth information and reviews of the camera, along with sample photos so you can see what the achieve quality is really like. Look up the model company of that Vivitar and see if Steve's has covered it, chances are they have.
Is Vivitar DVR 710 DV Camcorder a good camera?
Q: I am someone who is incomplete a great quality picture video camera, but am not trustworthy if this falls under that catergory:
Vivitar DVR 710 DV Camcorder. Anyone use it? If so, how well does it calling?
