Not that satisfied - had to reappear.
I ordered the Lose it UltraHD Camcorder, 120 mins in black for my husband's birthday. We tried it out at a fusing, and viewing the videos on the camcorder was fine, but the screen is a little small. However, once we put them on the computer and viewed them, the videos were actually choppy. We could hear everything that was going on, but some of the screens would freeze and a minute later, the screen that it should be at would evenutually happen up. So all in all, we really weren't able to watch the recordings except for on the small screen on the camcorder. We tried start-off the videos in different programs on my computer as well, but they did the same thing. One other thing I didn't like about this was that you couldn't history in low-lit rooms, unless you just wanted the audio. A light/flash would be helpful. It was a easy on the eyes big disappointment. I bought it thinking this would be super easy to use, and to get HD video at this price. I don't know if I proper got a bad one, because most of the reviews talk this camcorder up. But I won't be buying another one.

Accomplished gift for a young kid
My daughter always likes video cameras. When her 8th birthday came up, she wanted a video camera of her own. Under 150 dollars drift for grandparents and pasrents to share the cost, this is the one to get. My daughter loves it. I even borrow it for shootings of the events she was in. Can't find anything easier than this one to use. It is for steadfast the open the box and start to enjoy kind of gift.

Do not buy this camera if you desire to edit your videos.
I had an old Flop and loved it. I had a Kodak ZI6 that I liked but it got stolen.
Then I got this thing and it is a nightmare. The battery doesn't want to exertion right most of the time (which I found out is a common problem)and the worst thing is you cannot edit the videos from this camera in an editing system. The only way is to change over the files which is time consuming and a real headache. It takes all the fun out of this camera.
The video dignity in most indoor footage is extremely poor and the software that comes with the camera is useless.
Shun this camera at all costs.

Ultra Tough!
I got this for fathers day and was novel with Flip Video Camera's. My first reaction was the lack of options. I really wanted something with portrait stabilization and higher HD resolution.
After playing with it for a bit I fell in love with the camera. I bought an HD to HDmini connector to tableau videos directly to my tv and found the quality, while not 1080p, was still very clear and the colors were vibrant. I still wish the crest has image stabilization, but the lack of options is a big plus with a 4 year old. It's a snap to pull it out and start shooting on the fly. No worries of menu settings. Reasonable point and shoot. Low light recording is not the best, unfortunately. There is a lot of graininess when shot indoors or when the sun is down outdoors.
Now for the big exam!
While on vacation, I had accidentally dropped the Flip camera into a pool. The camera was completely submerged for about 5 seconds. As in due course as I got it out of the water, I opened the back and removed the battery. I then took the device carefully apart and with a can of air blew out the branch water (which, surprisingly, there was very little inside). I then left the camera apart to sit overnight to dry. The next day, I put it back together and turned it on. It fired convenient up! This happened about 2 weeks ago and it still works great!! Thankfully I know the biggest fault that someone can make when any electronic device is dropped in water: TURNING IT ON! I had also dropped a cell phone in the stakes and was able to save that as well. But the fact that the Flip video barely took on any water nationally is amazing!

Worst Camcorder Ever
I bougth this camcorder because of the guerdon, portability and the HD feature. The main purpose was to take it everywhere and record all my family's events, specially my daughter's.
I can't be more wrathful and dissapointed with this camera. From the first day, when I shot a couple of videos, one of them showed a 5 second green camouflage in the middle of the video. Then I thought it would never happen again, however it's still happening, and even worse, now all videos have a different sympathetic of failure (the latest one is a screen that says "Unplayable Video", and you know what, it was my daughter's fathers day act at set!!!!). It's come to a point where I can't watch videos on the camera anymore, the screen freezes and the only way to restart it is to take the batteries out. I've unsalvageable so many family videos, and that lost is worth MUCH MORE than the low price the camera is being offered.
Please, don't waste your cold hard cash on this item. You will regret it.

Enthusiastically recommended for amateur photographers
I would like to commend this camera for all amateur or professional photographers. I have a similar camera to this one and I have no problems with it. The wide room divider is pretty awesome!!! I have been using these cameras for Praise/worship services, they do a significant job serving its purpose. Clear pictures is what you really want and the still photos are also very good. If you get the battery-operated that holds 248-250 minutes you have made the right choice. You can easily set your camera at the LP mode and many times you will get an hour of recording in lieu of of 30 minutes. When I purchased this camera there were many negative reviews about this camera, but so far I have all the praise for this camera. Clever camera to put inside your pockets without having to put into a case. Will enjoy this camera for many years to catch.

Me no speaka the speech!
Bought this camcorder for my helpmeet to use primarily. We have a new baby so I wanted something easy to use and that would provide quality recording. Not disappointed there. The only difficulty was the initial use was at other daughter's sweet sixteen birthday party. Since my wife had not taken it out of the box yet I was hurriedly frustrating to get it set up to film the festivities. Unfortunatley, the default language setting was Spanish!! The instructions in the directions were incorrect so it took about thirty minutes of trial and error button pushing to get the settings to English. Besides that dab problem this camcorder is muy bueno!

I adoration this camcorder because I don't like to spend a lot of time figuring out how to work anything. I got it set up in the car on the way to visit family so it would be get ready. Very easy except it came set up in Spanish (what is with that). Better check on that before they are sent out is all I can say. Otherwise it is very easy to use and makes adroit videos.

The Go berserk is a wonderful camera -- easy to use, extremely portable with good-looking video. The big predicament is shaky video. It's impossible to hold the camera still for more than a few seconds. I've solved the problem with a camp-sized gizmo called the readysteady. I got it online.

Lightweight, Persistent, VERY easy to operate, vivid pictures
The camera is what to be expected, special-occasion quality for the price. We took it snorkeling on two seperate occasions once in the Carribean and once off the coast of Mexico and also to a waterpark using the underwater the reality that is available to purchase. I love that it easily holds 2 hours of video, pretty fresh quality, I love that it so easy to connect to your computer. We have had it for a long time and still have not changed the batteries, which is extraordinary!
Its a great camera for younger kids and teenagers who like capturing video. We use the Go crazy Video software and capture frame-by-frame photos from the videos once we download them to our computers, which is a superlative feature; however, the quality for these captured photos are not the same as you would get from a nice digital camera but still, really well-behaved. I think its a great price & good value!

*****Peerless Value*****
Its not violent definition but the video quality is very good for this price.
The Sony DCR-HC52 is well built (solid), has very exacting basic features and easy to use.
Great unless you have the computer horsepower and $$$$ for a (HD) high meaning camcorder
like the Canon VIXIA HF40 (also with fire-wire/ilink, maybe my next camcorder).
Its van-focus works well and this camcorder is an excellent weight, not too heavy and not too light.
I use it just outstanding with an older G4 Macintosh that has a fire-wire port.
Imovie recognizes this camera and imports the video for editing certainly and exported DV files work
fine to make DVD's with my Mac's pre-installed iMovie and iDVD applications.
I been relatively discouraged by new HD camera reviews from users that mention problems with
the new non fire-wire camcorders with Mac computers uniquely Sony camcorders.
This it not the case with the Sony DCR-HC52 made in 2008........
You can find the Sony DCR-HC52 now (May 2010) for less than $250.00 new.

Noteworthy LITTLE Camcorder!
I honey this camcorder! It is very small - compared to the JVC Mini DV Camcorder that I've used for the last 10 years. I wanted JVC again since my old camcorder still works well, but was looking to downsize and get in a different place from the tapes. The hard drive on this cam. stores over 19 hours of video - which is more than sufficient, and allows for tons of time to download before you need to clear the memory. I charged it immediately out of the box and about 2 hours later was recording my kids in the yard. The next day, I downloaded the software and burned a DVD which plays on my DVD performer (not just the computer!)
The battery life is somewhat short - about 40 minutes of actual recording at intervals, however I usually purchase an extra battery for backup (so one can be charging while the others in use or to take both out an a long adventure) and they do have a duo of extended life batteries available. Not to mention the great price Amazon had on the camcorder! MUCH less than the MSRP :) I had been looking at the JVC blaze drive models, but when I figured in the cost of purchasing 2 16GB SD cards - this model came out to be more charge effective and whith more recording time.

to the letter what I wanted
I did a pure amount of research and found this camera to be the perfect father's day gift for my husband. It is small enough to conveniently take most sitting room, yet gives a great picture and has uber-amounts of memory. Easy to upload to computer and then piece videos via email. Only downside... need a dvd burner to actually record to a disc, which most residents probably have on their computer, we obviously do not (making it the downside).

Canon Elura 40MC MiniDV Digital Camcorder w/ 2LCD, MMC Card and ...
Canon's Elura 40MC is one of the smallest, lightest digital video camcorders at one's disposal. Weighing around 14 ounces, this vertically oriented camcorder frenzy snugly into the palm of your aid (not resting on your ovation like most cameras, this one panic almost at bottom it).
Because of its tight build, some of its features had to be trimmed. Its 2-inch LCD is smaller than most, but its lustrous sort out can be viewed readily even in light of day. To many other camcorders, the Elura's viewfinder displays in go red, not jet-black and pasty. It also offers only a 10x visual zoom, not as strident as other cameras, but still barely satisfactory for most users.
Distant from many camcorders whose still notion distinction is subpar, the Elura 40MC captures 1024 x 768 pixel still pictures on a Preserve Digital media be open (an 8 MB SD humorist is included) rather than on the MiniDV media. And if coupled with a Canon CP-10 credit card photo printer, you can completely choice of words images from the Elura without usual through your PC.
But it's video calibre that matters most in a DV camcorder. The Elura 40MC captured major video, even in down lighting position. It doesn't have a built-in easy, but its low-counterglow status still managed to disc evocative video with naturalistic colors and restricted graininess.
The Elura's autofocus worked rapidly and proficiently, and its zoom buttons were within amiable reach during filming. Audio worth with the built-in mic wasn't the most suitable (we noticed some charivari during recording), but the Elura comes with a haven that lets you stick an outside microphone.
It's not the least extravagant camcorder out there, but the different portability of the Elura 40MC paired with its splendid video trait overstate it an tempting election. --J. Curtis

Launched by Sony in 1995, DV (or Mini-DV) is the most hot consumer digital video layout. DV camcorders equip what is arguably the vanquish eminence of all of the national video formats, with all models possessing the proficiency to deliver video signals out to another artifice (such as a Windows or Apple Mac computer) via FireWire, also known as i. Q: I might be prosperous to a concert and I need a camcorder/camera that would work because my phone has in Queer Street quality pictures and my camera doesn't record unmarred with videos so can someone please tell me kinds of camcorders that aren't too big for concerts, but still have paraphernalia quality and maybe a website or store to find them? It would really escape me out a lot!!!
A: Well, usually concerts are low-light events, which normally requires a rather high-end camcorder to get good quality in the low-light state of affairs. If you go with a Sony, they do have the NightShot feature built in which drastically improves low-luminous shots. Granted on some models it gives the tape a "unripened hue" so this may not be a desirable option. (Though Sony's are still a good acceptance in my opinion).
If it is an outdoor or day concert you can pretty much use any old camcorder. Preferably something with image stabilization (optical is better than digital stabilization) and a all right zoom (at least 10x optical) unless you're going to be right up next to the stage.
There are also many media types to consider. Mini DV tape, mini-DVD and enigmatic drive are the three main types. As far as cost goes, mini-DV is the cheapest and in reality offers the highest quality video, as it is compressed less than the other past media types.
As far as where to go... try http://www.bestbuy.com/ I am an staff member in Best Buy's digital imaging dept. and I have people roll in in all the time with these questions. You'll end up getting a lot more information in a shorter span of time if you go and talk to someone as opposed to reading a bunch of unique sources. Even what I wrote here is extremely basic and would only take a few minutes to palliate verbally.
Good luck.
How many people are disappointed with these new camcorders compared to the old style?
Q: I have a few old VHS camcorders that are superoir with low lighting. One is an RCA and the other is a JVC. Both are excellent, but they are VHS and huge in size.
Now, I have tested a few of these mini-camcorders, like the Sony HandiCam DVD and the JVC MiniDV and they all are tolerably much the same catagory, on the consumer level, like my old chunky VHS camcorders, but one reaction that really sucks is that these new gadgets blow goat cheese when it comes to low lighting!
I have a JVC MiniDV. It is the topmost toy I have owned, as far as camcorders. It does very well, and better than "DVD quality", yet the low lighting is sad. They have what is called Owl Configuration or "Slow motion", something like that. Very choppy and watery in that mode.
Vig90,
I have Both.
VHS camcorder (full size) and JVC-MiniDV. I am just saying that the VHS does uncommonly well in very low lighting.
A: Do your homework cuz any vhs camera does not even against to a great miniDV camera. Check out the Canon HV20. Validate out camcorderinfo.com to see it all.
